The sun rises over Brooklyn as seen looking east on the Brooklyn Bridge

THE LOCATION: Brooklyn Bridge, New York City, N.Y.

GPS: 40.70487130261815, -73.99546865368764

EQUIPMENT: Canon 5D Mark IV | EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

THE STORY: Cold and clear, a few pedestrians, and a glorious sunrise peaking through the Brooklyn Bridge.

There's something special about New York City just before sunrise.

It's a pause in the busiest place on the globe, a quiet catch-your-breath moment, a last twinkle of the lights in the skyscrapers, a minute to feel isolated in a city of 8.5 million people.
